The Sports Writers Association of Nigeri, SWAN, Akwa Ibom Chapter,has felicitated the National President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, and the Deputy National President, Otuekong Bonny Nyong on their re-election, alongside other elected National Executive Council, NEC, members at the just concluded 2026 Triennial National Delegates Conference in Kaduna.
The state chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Akpan and the assistant secretary, Comrade James Akpan who jointly signed the statement on behalf of executive and member of the association in Akwa Ibom, said their victories demonstrated a clear endorsement of their visionary leadership, track record of service, and commitment to the growth of sports journalism in Nigeria
“We see your re-election as a reflection of the trust and confidence reposed in you by delegates across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT to steer the affairs of our great Association to greater heights,” the statement said.
The SWAN Akwa Ibom Chapter added that Benjamin’s passion for sports development, welfare of members, and professionalism has inspired many in Akwa Ibom while being immensely proud that Akwa Ibom is once again strongly represented at the national level by the reemergence of Nyong.
“Your second term is a testament to your dedication and the confidence members have in your capacity,” the chapter stated.
The SWAN Chapter said it was ready to key into all programmes and initiatives of the national body to ensure that the overall development of sports in Nigeria get the media attention they deserve.
The Chapter also was confident that the leadership will witness more capacity building, welfare packages for members, stronger collaboration with sports authorities, and greater visibility for Nigerian sports.
While praying God to grant the leadership wisdom, good health, and strength to pilot the affairs of SWAN successfully ,it also expressed the capacity of the leadership to promote policies that will empower grassroots sports writers and promote ethical journalism while pledging its unflinching loyalty, support, and cooperation to the new National Executive Council, NEC.
