A military aircraft with “at least 110 soldiers” on board crashed at Puerto Leguízamo, a remote area in the Putumayo Department of southern Colombia, on Monday, March 23, 2026.
Blu Radio, a Colombian radio station, confirmed the incident, stating that preliminary reports indicated that at least 110 soldiers were on board the crashed aircraft.
“At least 110 soldiers were on board the aircraft, and so far the rescue of at least 67 wounded soldiers has been confirmed,” Blu Radio reported.
Rescue efforts are ongoing at the site of the crash, while those already rescued are receiving treatment in hospital.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro, in a post on X on Monday, March 23, said, “I hope there are no fatalities in this horrific accident that should never have happened.”
He added, “I will grant no further delays; it is the lives of our young people that are at stake. If civilian or military administrative officials are not up to this challenge, they must be removed.”
