Thirty young media enthusiasts in Oron/Mbo/Okobo/Udung Uko/Urueoffong Oruko Federal Constituency have received laptop computers under the 3rd phase of the Oro Students Engagement & Education Development Scheme (OSEEDs) ICT Literacy Programme.
The scheme is an initiative of the Member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on Youth Development, Rep. Martins Esin.
Presenting the devices to the beneficiaries at a one-day advanced ICT training in Uyo on Monday, the Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources and Sanitation in Akwa Ibom State, Dr Ubuo Ubuo, urged the young multimedia operators to maximise the opportunity by leveraging the hardware to enhance their skills in their respective fields.
Similarly, the Legislative Aide to the federal lawmaker, Mr John Ntekim, stated that the gesture was aimed at promoting digital literacy and improving the research capabilities of the participants. He explained that the latest phase of the programme has brought the total number of beneficiaries to 93.
The event was witnessed by some dignitaries, including the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Barr. Omen Bassey.
