Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commissioned the Victorious Family International Worship Centre in Eket Local Government Area.

Pastor Eno who served as the Special Guest of Honour at the formal dedication of the Worship Center on Saturday, commended the Founder, Dr. Williams Mbuk, for aligning the vision of the Church with the ARISE Agenda, through provision of business grants to members, a gesture he noted will help empower the Christian fold.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Senator (Dr) Akon Eyakenyi, the State Chief Executive also lauded Dr. Mbuk for patronising indigenous contractors and talents in the building and equipping of the facility, saying it is in tandem with the empowerment approach of the current administration in the State.

“I stand here, on behalf of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State to congratulate you, your wife and the entire Church management on this feat.

“Aligning the Church’s vision with what the government is doing, is very commendable. That means that the vision of establishing the Church was not just to preach the Bible, not just to win souls. You are also thinking of how the body will survive. You have realised that a hungry man is an angry, sick man. That is why you have keyed into the ARISE Agenda of the government by empowering members of the Church. The government will support you”, he said.

While thanking the Christian community for their continued prayers, Governor Eno said aside infrastructural and rural development, his administration will continue to pay close attention to youths empowerment, particularly, through entrepreneurship.

He encouraged members of the Church to avail themselves of the various empowerment opportunities made possible by the government.

“The Governor’s vision, from the campaigns, was not to give handouts. The Governor is bent on ensuring that our people become employers of labour especially, through SMEs.

“He believes you can start small and grow big. That is why he’s giving special attention to youth and entrepreneurial development and I’m pleased that the Church is also keying into it”, he added.

Earlier in his speech, the Founder of the Church, Dr. Williams Mbuk, highlighted some features of the new worship centre to include a full administrative building, worship hall, library, cafeteria, sick bay, baptistery and a recording studio, amongst others.

To grow the state’s economy, he disclosed that the building was constructed, furnished and equipped using local contractors within Eket, Uyo and Oron.

“We empower five people with N500,000 every month in this Church, to enable them do business. We have given scholarships to students in tertiary institutions and provided medical outreaches to the elderly. We trust that God will continue to bless us with resources to carry on this mandate that He has given us”, the Man of God said.

The Service which featured brief exhortation by the Chairman of CAN, Akwa Ibom State, Bishop Christian Nyong, prayers and special ministrations, was graced by members of the State Executive Council, Honourary Special Advisers to the Governor, members of the State House of Assembly, Chairmen of Local Government Councils, Clerics, amongst others.
