The awareness campaign will continue on Saturday, October 17, with a Cybersecurity Awareness Walk scheduled to commence at 6:30 a.m. from the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The walk is intended to extend cybersecurity sensitisation beyond conference halls and encourage broader public participation in safeguarding the country’s digital environment.

The Police Force has called on government institutions, private sector organisations, educational institutions, civil society groups, the media and other members of the public to support and participate in the initiative.

It also urged Nigerians to embrace basic online safety measures, including using strong and unique passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, protecting personal information and verifying suspicious links and requests before responding.

The Force specifically warned against sharing passwords, personal identification numbers, PINs and one-time passwords, OTPs, stressing the importance of remaining vigilant when using digital platforms.

According to the Police, the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to preventing and combating cybercrime through public sensitisation, collaboration with relevant stakeholders and effective law enforcement.Police news updates
