1. Probe Atiku Where Evidence Exists, CSOs Tell EFCC
A coalition of civil society organisations has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to investigate allegations of financial infractions involving former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, saying the anti-graft agency should follow the evidence wherever it leads. The Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Transparency and Accountability made the demand at a rally in Abuja, insisting that the call was not for Atiku to be convicted in the court of public opinion but for any credible allegations against him to be subjected to due process.
2. NDLEA, Army Destroy Cannabis Farms, Arrest Two Suspects In Edo
A joint operation by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Edo State Command, and the Nigerian Army has led to the destruction of two cannabis plantations measuring 0.544092 hectares, with an estimated yield of 1,360.23kg. The operatives also destroyed 107kg of processed cannabis, including cannabis seeds, at Eko Camp, Illushi, in the Esan South-East Local Government Area of the state. The Edo State Commander of the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
3. Army Raids Terrorists’ Enclave, Neutralises Suspect, Recovers Arms – Official
Troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA have raided a suspected terrorists’ hideout where they neutralised a suspected terrorist and recovered weapon and motorcycle in Gudu Local Government Area. This was contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, in Sokoto.
4. Navy Warns Against Fake DSSC Recruitment Notices
The Nigerian Navy, NN, warned members of the public against fake Direct Short Service Commission, DSSC, recruitment notices circulating on social media. The Director of Naval Information, Captain Abi Folorunsho, gave the warning in a statement posted on his X handle on Tuesday. Folorunsho said the notices, which claim to advertise openings for DSSC Course 30 and list qualifications across medical, engineering, legal, ICT and other fields, were not issued by the Nigerian Navy, stressing that the Navy’s DSSC recruitment exercise had not commenced.
5. Probe Begins Into 37 Deaths In NSCDC Custody
The Independent Federal Committee investigating the deaths of 37 persons in the custody of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Minna has begun work, with its Chairman, Mr Jonathan Kure, assuring people that the probe would deliver justice and bring relief to those affected. Kure, a retired Deputy Director General of the Department of State Services and Chairman of the 10-man panel set up by the Federal Government, said the committee would fully exercise its independent mandate. He spoke when he led other members of the committee on a visit to Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago at the Government House in Minna, saying the team was in the state capital to execute the assignment given to it by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
6. Five Arrested Over ‘Tinubu Must Go’ T-shirts in Borno
The Borno State Police Command has arrested and arraigned five men in Maiduguri for allegedly printing and wearing T-shirts bearing the inscription “Tinubu Must Go.” According to a First Information Report, FIR, issued by the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, and verified through court officials, the suspects are Baba Aji Gremami (44), Mustapha Abba Yemen (28), Abbacha Mohammed Ali (32), Adam Umar Gubio (21), and Abdulhamid Mohammed (21).
7. NSCDC Deploys 3,000 Personnel Across Abuja for Independence Anniversary
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Federal Capital Territory Command, deployed 3,000 personnel across the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, as part of intensified security arrangements for Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary celebrations. The deployment, ordered by the FCT Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, was designed to strengthen security, maintain law and order, protect lives and property before, during and after the anniversary celebrations.
8. IGP Disu Hosts Veterinary Experts, Targets Better Care for Police Animals
The Nigeria Police Force is seeking to deepen professional collaboration with the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, NVMA, as part of efforts to strengthen veterinary services supporting its specialised operational units. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, received the NVMA delegation, led by its President, Dr. Moses Arokoyo, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, on Tuesday, September 29, where both sides examined areas of cooperation between the veterinary profession and the Police. At the centre of the engagement was the need to enhance the veterinary support available to the Force, particularly services connected to its Canine Units and Mounted Troops.
9. Tinubu Returns To Nigeria After Four-week Holiday In Europe
President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after spending four weeks in Europe on a working holiday. The presidential aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday, September 29, evening.
10. NAF, NEMA Deepen Partnership on Disaster Response, Search and Rescue Operations
The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, and the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, agreed to deepen collaboration on disaster response, search and rescue, medical support and emergency preparedness. The commitment was made on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, when the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force in Abuja. The engagement focused on strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two agencies and improving Nigeria’s capacity to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies and humanitarian situations.

1. DELTA STATE:
✅ Police operatives successfully tracked the location of an abducted female victim and rescued her from the custody of the perpetrators.
Six suspects, comprising three males and three females, were successfully arrested and taken into custody.

2. KWARA STATE:
✅ Police, operatives successfully rescued a kidnapped female victim from Isapa Forest.
The rescued victim was safely debriefed and reunited with her family.
Information obtained from the victim is aiding ongoing operations to rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators.

3. ONDO STATE:
✅ Police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, successfully arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate in Akure.
One locally made four-round revolver gun, criminal charms, one laptop, motorcycle mirrors and a licence plate were successfully recovered.
The suspects confessed to multiple robbery incidents in Akure and its environs.

4. OYO STATE:
✅ Police operatives successfully tracked and arrested a suspected armed robber who fled to Ogbomoso with a snatched motorcycle.
The snatched motorcycle was successfully recovered from the suspect.
The suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation.

5. FCT:
✅ Police detectives successfully arrested a suspect conveying a suspicious bag during a stop-and-search operation at Giri.
Twenty-nine pieces of bullet-proof magnetic iron were successfully recovered from the suspect.
Investigation is ongoing to trace the source and destination of the recovered exhibits and apprehend other persons connected to the case.

6. JIGAWA STATE:
✅ Police operatives successfully responded to an attack in Sule Tankarkar.
Five suspects linked to the attack were successfully arrested and taken into custody.
The injured victims were successfully evacuated to hospital for medical attention.

7. KEBBI STATE:
✅ Police operatives successfully arrested one suspect linked to the death of two persons following a physical altercation.
The suspect confessed to engaging the deceased in a serious fight involving cutlasses and sticks.

✅ Police detectives successfully arrested one suspect in connection with a reported murder case at Matogun.
The scene and corpse were successfully documented, while the corpse was deposited for preservation and autopsy.
