1. IGP Disu Assures Nigerians Of Peaceful 2027 Elections
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, assured Nigerians that the Nigeria Police Force will ensure peaceful and violence-free general elections in 2027. IGP Disu gave the assurance at the weekend in Lagos during a grand reception organised by old students of St Gregory’s College, Lagos, in honour of the Inspector-General and other distinguished alumni of the school. The police boss, who is an alumnus of the institution, was honoured with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the colourful reception.
2. Nigerian Navy Opens 2026 Batch 39 Recruitment Exercise
The Nigerian Navy, NN, announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise for Batch 39 of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School. According to the recruitment guideline, the exercise will run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, with qualified applicants expected to complete their applications online through the Nigerian Navy’s official recruitment portal, as reported in a post on its X handle on Monday, September 28.The Navy said the recruitment process is free of charge, warning applicants against making payments to individuals claiming to facilitate recruitment.
3. Nigerian Air Force Completes Local Reassembly Of First Two H125 Helicopters
The Nigerian Air Force, NAF completed the local reassembly of its first two H125 helicopters at NAF Base Ikeja, Lagos. The NAF disclosed this in a statement posted on Monday, September 28, saying the helicopters were delivered by Airbus Helicopters and reassembled with the support of Airbus technical personnel.
4. Terrorists Attacking Plateau Communities Observing Curfew, NBA Alleges
The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, in Plateau State alleged that terrorists are openly attacking communities observing government-imposed curfews amid renewed killings in the state. The four branches of the NBA in the state, comprising Jos, Pankshin, Bukuru and Shendam, raised the alarm on Monday, September 28, at a joint press conference held at the NUJ Secretariat, Jos.
5. Corruption: EFCC Uncovers Officials With Hundreds Of Houses, Millions In Assets
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, receives more than 20,000 petitions about public sector corruption every year, the commission’s chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has said.
Olukoyede disclosed this in Abuja while speaking at the 80th birthday celebration of former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Kanu Agabi.
6. NDLEA Seizes 2.55m Opioid Pills Worth Over N3bn At Lagos Airport
National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA intercepted 2.55 million pills of pharmaceutical opioids with a combined gross weight of 1,640.55 kilogrammes worth N3 billion at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos. The seizure, described by the agency as one of its biggest opioid hauls this year, during a joint examination of three monitored consignments at the airport’s import shed.
7. CSOs Urge Restraint, Due Process In Probe Into NSCDC Custody Deaths
The Centre for Peace, Transparency and Accountability and allied civil society organisations have called for restraint, objectivity and due process in the ongoing investigation into the reported deaths of suspected illegal miners in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Niger State. The groups expressed support for a full investigation into the incident but warned against premature conclusions and what they described as attempts to discredit the Ministry of Interior and the NSCDC before the facts surrounding the deaths are established.
8. Delta Dep Director’s Killing: Police Arrest Commissioner, 3 Others
Delta State Police Command says it has taken the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, and three other suspects into custody over the death of Mr Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda, Deputy Director in the state Ministry of Secondary Education. The development brings to five the number of persons currently in police custody in connection with the investigation into circumstances surrounding Adeda’s death, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said in a statement Monday, September 28.

DELTA STATE:
✅ Police operatives successfully responded to an armed robbery and cable vandalism incident at a hotel in Asaba. One suspected armed robber was successfully arrested after being shot in the leg, while one machete, one plier, one iron rod and armoured cable were recovered. Coordinated anti-crime patrols led to the impoundment of 19 vehicles, two tricycles and one motorcycle for various offences. Six suspects were successfully arrested and handed over for further investigation.

LAGOS STATE:
✅ Police operatives successfully arrested five suspected armed robbers following a distress call along Ejigbo-Idimu Road. Two cutlasses and one suspected stolen television set were successfully recovered. One suspected armed robbery suspect was successfully arrested at a hideout in Mushin. ₦2,500,000 cash and three mobile phones were successfully recovered from the suspect. Two suspects were successfully arrested in connection with a reported murder case at Ajah.

KOGI STATE:
✅ Joint security forces successfully rescued an abducted male victim unhurt following sustained bush-combing and rescue operations. The abductors were successfully forced to flee into the forest following the deployment of teargas. Clearance operations are ongoing to track and apprehend the fleeing perpetrators.

ANAMBRA STATE:
✅ Police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, successfully raided criminal hideouts within Okpoko. Thirteen suspects were successfully arrested, while others fled into the surrounding bushes. Quantities of weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa and other illicit substances were successfully recovered. Six motorcycles were also successfully recovered.

✅ Police detectives successfully rescued a 16-year-old abducted male victim. The suspect was successfully arrested in connection with the abduction. The rescued victim was safely evacuated to hospital for medical examination.

✅ Police tactical teams successfully mobilized to the scene of a bandit attack along the Gusau-Funtua Federal Highway. Four gunshot victims were successfully evacuated to General Hospital Tsafe for treatment. Joint security operatives are currently conducting operations to rescue the abducted victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
