The Nigerian Army has commenced renovation and development works at its 11 Brigade headquarters in Gboko area of Benue State, as part of efforts to strengthen its operational presence in the state.

General Officer Commanding (GOC), 5 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Moses Gara, disclosed this during an operational visit to the brigade, where he inspected accommodation facilities and ongoing renovation works at the headquarters.

Gara, who was accompanied by the Garrison Commander, 5 Division, Makurdi, Brigadier General MD Abdulsalam, and other principal officers of the division and Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke (JTF OPWS), also assessed the welfare of troops and the operational readiness of the brigade.

He focused the inspection on the progress of the ongoing projects and the facilities required to support effective operations by personnel deployed to the area.

The GOC commended the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General AO Odubiyi, for maintaining standards and charged officers and soldiers to remain professional and committed to the Army’s mandate of ensuring peace and security within its area of responsibility.

Recall that the new 5 Division was among four others created recently by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to strengthen security presence across the state.
