Riding on euphoria inspired by the 39th Anniversary of Akwa Ibom State, a passionate appeal has been made to Gov Umo Eno to direct relevant agencies to intervene and arrest the vandalization of electrical-infrastructure across the state.
The critical-stakeholders said that if the activities of vandals of electrical-infrastructure were not addressed, the evil-practice threatened to sabotage and deny the people of full-value and advantages of the ARISE AGENDA of his pro-active administration.
In an official letter written to His Excellency the Governor of the State, dated September 22, 2026, to felicitate with Gov Umo Eno on the anniversary, the COMPPART Foundation for Justice and Peace building, regretted that despite the good intentions of the administration, the susained-vandalization of electrical-infrastructure, especially in rural-areas across the 31 LGAs, threatened successful-implementation of critical-components of the ARISE AGENDA of the administration.
“It’s been observed that across all villages in the local government areas of Akwa Ibom State, there are widespread instances of vandalism of electrical-poles, cables and wires. As a result, numerous communities have been thrown into prplongeddarkness,” the Foundation said, in its statement.

In the statement that was signed by its Executive Director, Mr Saviour Akpan, Esq, the Foundation urged Gov. Eno to direct investigation into the ugly trend which it said was capable of sabotaging the good intentions of the administration.
The Foundation recommended strategies to checkmate the evil-practice, including increased community-based vigilance to arrest perpetrators at the grassroots.
Other strategies to frustrate the vandalis include collaboration and information-sharing among communities, as well as electronic-vigilance, among other strategies to protect collosal-investment by the state govt in the well-being of ordinary people in the state.
