… Says Governor to Deliver Centenary Lecture at Yoruba Tennis Club, Speak on Democracy and Good Governance as Club Marks 100 years

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, says the wave of awards and recognitions recently conferred on Governor Umo Eno are clear proof that the ARISE Agenda is working and attracting global attention.

Speaking on Premium FM, Umanah noted that the accolades are validation of the Governor’s people-centric approach to governance.

Last week, Governor Eno received the “Most Outstanding Governor in South-South, Nigeria” award at the Daily Times Centenary Awards. The honour came barely two weeks after Security Watch Africa from The Gambia conferred on him the “African Leader in People-Centric Governance” award, in recognition of his commitment to community empowerment and inclusive leadership.

“The recognitions coming to Governor Eno are clear signs that the ARISE Agenda is working. These awards are morale boosters and proof that the world is taking note. It is a clarion call for us to stay focused and do even more for our people,” the Commissioner said.

The Information Boss described the awards as not just personal to the Governor, but as recognition of the collective effort of Akwa Ibom people to build a state driven by Agriculture, Rural Development, Infrastructure, Security, and Education — the pillars of the ARISE Agenda.

He also disclosed that Governor Eno will on Thursday, August 6, 2026, deliver the keynote lecture at the Yoruba Tennis Club Centenary Lecture Series in Lagos.

The lecture, themed “Democracy and the Imperative of Good Governance: Renewing Hope in Challenging Times”, is part of activities marking the Club’s 100th Anniversary, 1926-2026. The Yoruba Tennis Club is celebrating a century of brotherhood, leadership and national influence under the banner “A Century at the Forefront of History and Tradition.” The event will hold at the Greetings Hall, Yoruba Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos by 11:00 AM.

“Governor Eno’s selection as Guest Speaker underscores his growing national profile and the impact of the ARISE Agenda in Akwa Ibom State. The administration has been widely recognized for its focus on infrastructure, agriculture, rural development, security, and education”, he said.

According to information, the lecture will be broadcast live on TVC News, Arise News, AKBC, as well as on the Akwa Ibom State Government’s official YouTube channel and Facebook pages: AkwaIbomStateGovernment, www.facebook.com/aksgovt and www.facebook.com/aksmoist.

The Yoruba Tennis Club, founded in 1926, is one of Nigeria’s oldest social and cultural institutions. Its centenary celebrations have drawn participation from leaders across the country. The Akwa Ibom State Government invites the public to tune in and join in celebrating 100 years of the Club’s contribution to national unity and leadership.
