The Member representing Uyo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Mark Esset, has declared his unwavering support for the administration of Governor Umo Eno, saying the people of the constituency appreciate the Governor’s people-oriented programmes and are prepared to give him overwhelming support in the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking during the ARISE Akwa Ibom radio programme, Hon. Esset said residents of Uyo, Uruan, Ibesikpo Asutan and Nsit Atai Local Government Areas, which make up Uyo Federal Constituency, have witnessed the impact of Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda and remain satisfied with the administration’s developmental strides across the state.

According to the federal lawmaker, the Governor’s inclusive leadership and commitment to improving the welfare of citizens have continued to inspire confidence among the people.

He expressed optimism that Governor Umo Eno would receive what he described as “100 percent support” from the constituency in 2027, citing the administration’s visible achievements and sustained grassroots interventions.

Hon. Esset noted that all his constituency programmes and interventions are deliberately aligned with the ARISE Agenda to complement the efforts of the state government in delivering sustainable development.

He explained that his empowerment initiatives have focused on agriculture, transportation and small business development, enabling many constituents to improve their livelihoods through farming support, transportation assistance and business grants.

The lawmaker also commended Governor Umo Eno for the ongoing free food distribution programme across the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom State, describing the initiative as a timely intervention that is easing the economic burden on vulnerable families and demonstrating the administration’s commitment to the welfare of the people.

Speaking on governance, Hon. Esset urged residents to protect public infrastructure and make responsible use of government empowerment opportunities.

He warned that the vandalism of public facilities, including solar-powered installations and water projects, discourages further investment, stressing that communities must take ownership of projects provided for their benefit.

He further advised beneficiaries of government grants and empowerment schemes to invest the resources wisely and expand their businesses, noting that successful outcomes encourage governments at all levels to sustain and expand empowerment programmes.

On legislative representation, the federal lawmaker said he maintains regular engagement with constituents through town hall meetings and consultations with youths, women and community stakeholders to identify their needs and ensure that his legislative activities and constituency projects reflect the aspirations of the people.

Hon. Esset also recalled his intervention following the recent flooding that affected parts of Uyo Federal Constituency.

He disclosed that he raised a motion on the floor of the House of Representatives, which led to the deployment of officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assess the affected communities and begin the process of providing federal assistance.

The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with Governor Umo Eno and relevant federal agencies to attract more development projects, strengthen community resilience and improve the quality of life for the people of Uyo Federal Constituency.
