One of the most prominent recreational associations in Nigeria, the Uyo Club has inaugurated its full Executive Council which will run the club’s activities for the next two years.

This was contained in a Press Release issued by the Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the Club, Samuel E. Akpan, in Uyo.

Performing the inauguration at the club house on Wellington Bassey way in Uyo, the club president, Professor Sahm Etuk charged the newly elected executive members to bring their wealth of experience to the offices they are elected into.

According to Professor Etuk, the members are expecting the new Exco not to only move the club forward but also impact the society positively.

“You have voluntarily presented yourselves for service and we expect that you will make yourselves available at all times to offer the service required of you”, he charged.

Those inaugurated after a bye election held in April 2026 to fill all vacant positions of the club include, a foremost broadcast manager, who is currently the Executive Managing Consultant of Comfort 95.1 FM, Uyo and a member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Samuel Enoh Akpan, who emerged as the club’s Public Relations Officer, PRO, and other prominent professionals.

The other Exco members are: Barrister Eno Inyang – Treasurer; Anthony Etim – Social Secretary; Christian Daniel – Welfare Secretary; Barrister (Obong) Friday Ekpa – Legal Adviser; Christian Chukwu – Provost; Mmenye Udofa – Assistant Secretary; Otu Otu – Maintenance Secretary and Macaulay Udom – Ex Official.

The Uyo Club President, Professor Etuk, a Professor of Strategic Marketing and currently the Director, School of Continuing Education, as well as the Chairman, University of Uyo Sports Committee was earlier inaugurated alongside with the Vice President, Dr Nestor Udoh, a retired permanent secretary on January 10, 2026. Others inaugurated with them are, the General Secretary – Barrister Ndi Aquaisua; Financial Secretary – TPL Dr. Emmanuel Etuk; Auditor – Dr. Imbur Terfa and the General Games Captain – Dr. Anietie Ekong.

The president seized the opportunity *and* also inaugurated the Board of Past Presidents, consisting of all former presidents that are alive. He charged them to be free to perform the constitutional role of advising the Executive members on how to navigate out of difficult situations.

The past Uyo club presidents present at the event are Dr. Emem Umoh, Dr. Bassey Etuknwa, Engr. Mbosowo Orok, Professor Ini Jonah and a member of the Standing Committee of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Akparawa Ikpong Essien-Udom.

With these inaugurations, the club is set to function fully with all the organs in place as stated in the club’s constitution.

The President seized the opportunity to appeal to members of the club to work together to achieve sole aims of joining the club which bothers on recreation, service and development.

The Uyo club was founded in 1935 and has membership cutting across every strata of the society.
