FPRO, Federal High Court Strengthen Ties To Boost Public Confidence In Justice System

In a move aimed at enhancing collaboration within Nigeria’s criminal justice system, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, on Monday, July 13, 2026, paid a familiarization visit to the Directorate of Information of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Speaking during the visit, CSP Iniedu disclosed that the engagement was carried out on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, as part of efforts to strengthen institutional cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal High Court.

According to the FPRO, the visit provided a strategic platform to deepen collaboration between the two key institutions responsible for the administration of justice and the dissemination of information to the public.

He expressed appreciation to the management and staff of the Directorate of Information for the warm reception accorded him, noting that the discussions held during the visit were both productive and impactful.

CSP Iniedu emphasized that stronger synergy between the Force Public Relations Office and the Federal High Court’s Directorate of Information would yield significant benefits, including improved public trust in law enforcement and judicial institutions, enhanced dissemination of accurate and timely information, and a reduction in misinformation and sensational reporting.

He further noted that such collaboration would promote greater public understanding of the criminal justice process, reinforce respect for the rule of law, and support democratic governance.

The FPRO maintained that a structured partnership between both institutions would ultimately strengthen public confidence in Nigeria’s security and justice architecture, while fostering transparency, accountability and effective communication in the administration of justice.

In her response, Director oF Information, Federal High Court of Nigeria, Dr. Catherine-Oby Christopher, believe the initiative reflects a growing commitment by both the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal High Court to ensure that accurate information reaches the public and that confidence in the nation’s justice system continues to grow.
