Akwa Ibom Police Burst Robbery Syndicate, Recover Arms And Stolen Items

Operatives of Akwa Ibom State Police Command recorded another breakthrough in its relentless fight against crime, as two suspected armed robbers were arrested and dangerous weapons and stolen items recovered in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.

The Command’s public relations officer, PPRO, DSP Timfon John made this known in a press release on Monday, March 24, 2025.

“On 20th March 2025, at about 23:30hrs, the Command received a distress call from the Control Room, reporting an ongoing armed robbery along Nung Udo Idem Ikot Okubo village. Acting swiftly, tactical teams were mobilized to the scene, where the hoodlums were trailed to a Hotel (name withheld).

“Following a well-coordinated operation, two suspects were apprehended:

1. Louis Joseph Thomas ‘m’, 23 years

2. Essien Friday Nelson ‘m’, 27 years

A thorough search led to the recovery of the following items:



Four (4) locally made pistols; Thirty-four (34) live cartridges; One (1) Moniepoint POS machine; Two (2) black face masks; Two (2) laptops; Three (3) Android phones; One (1) button phone; One (1) wristwatch; and One (1) black long-sleeve Special Force polo.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, commended the operatives for their swift response and assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing gang members and recover more weapons.

“The Command remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents and urges the public to continue providing timely and credible information that will aid in crime prevention.
