Defending champions Argentina pulled off a sensational comeback to defeat Egypt 3-2 in a thrilling FIFA World Cup Round of 16 clash, overturning a two-goal deficit to keep their title defence alive.
Egypt looked set for one of the biggest upsets of the tournament after Yasser Ibrahim and Mostafa Zico fired them into a commanding 2-0 lead. But Argentina refused to surrender. Cristian Romero sparked the comeback before Lionel Messi levelled the score, setting the stage for Enzo Fernández to net a dramatic stoppage-time winner.
The remarkable turnaround sends Argentina into the World Cup quarter-finals, while Egypt exit the tournament with their heads held high after pushing the defending champions to the very end.
