In a significant move aimed at strengthening policing strategies and deepening ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, received a high-powered delegation of former Inspectors-General of Police at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The visit brought together some of the most experienced and respected figures in the history of the Nigeria Police Force, underscoring a shared commitment to advancing national security and institutional development.



The distinguished delegation comprised Aliyu Attah, Sunday Ehindero, Mike Mbama Okiro, Ogbonna Onovo, Abubakar Ringim, Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, Sulaiman Abba, Usman Alkali Baba and Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

During the meeting, discussions focused on harnessing the extensive institutional memory, leadership experience, and strategic expertise of the former police chiefs to address emerging security threats across the country. The engagement also explored ways of accelerating ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, professionalism, intelligence-led policing, and public confidence in the Force.

Sources at the meeting indicated that the deliberations touched on critical national security concerns, including evolving crime trends, the need for greater inter-agency collaboration, capacity building for personnel, and the adoption of innovative policing approaches to meet contemporary security demands.

Speaking during the engagement, IGP Disu expressed profound appreciation to his predecessors for their continued commitment to the progress of the Nigeria Police Force. He noted that the experience and wisdom accumulated by the former police chiefs over decades of service remain invaluable assets that can help guide the Force in navigating complex security challenges, SwiftReporters reported.
