The Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio has emerged as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Akwa Ibom Northeast (Ikot Ekpene) senatorial district.

Senator Ekong Sampson and Senator Aniekan Bassey also clinched the party’s ticket for Akwa Ibom South (Eket) and Akwa Ibom Northeast (Uyo) senatorial districts respectively.

They had no opponents in primaries which held across the various wards in the three senatorial districts of the state.

Our correspondent reports that voters trooped out enmasse to cast their votes but witnessed delays in the arrival of voting materials.
