Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Aliyu Giwa, has been appointed the 27th Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, of the Nigeria Police Force.
Giwa previously served as the Assistant Police Force Public Relations Officer at the Annex, Obalende, Lagos, between February 2017 and March 2022.

His appointment comes barely 24 hours after The NewsDesk exclusively reported the removal of the former FPRO, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin.
Findings revealed that the 40-year-old is a cybersecurity specialist at the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre, a position he has held since February 2025.
A top source familiar with the development noted that Giwa was considered a strong match for the expertise displayed by the former FPRO, Hundeyin.
“He has the charisma for the job, during his tenure as PRO in Lagos state, he performed exceptionally.

“The selection for his appointment was strategically handled,” the source told SituationReport.
With his appointment as the 27th Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force, a very strategic message has been sent. Competence still matters. Intelligence still matters. Professionalism still matters.
CSP Giwa steps into this position following the recent restructuring within the Force under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, and he replaces ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, who held the role for about six months.
CSP Giwa is not only a police officer. He is also a cybersecurity specialist currently serving at the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre. In an era where crime has rapidly moved into the digital space, having someone with this level of expertise speaking for the Force is both timely and strategic.
Academically and professionally, his credentials speak for themselves.
He holds a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Maiduguri, and he has built an impressive portfolio of international certifications including:
• Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)
• Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
• Associate Member, International Compliance Association
• Associate Member, ACAMS
• Certification in Telecommunication Fraud from Zhejiang Police College
These are not ordinary credentials. These are the kinds of qualifications that position an officer to understand the evolving nature of modern crime.

His experience within the Force is equally extensive. Over the years he has served in several strategic roles, including:
• Assistant Force Public Relations Officer in Lagos
• Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State
• Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Police Cooperative Multi Purpose Society
• Personal Assistant to the Assistant Inspector General of Police
• Police Assistant to the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Logistics and Supply
Each of these roles contributed to building the experience and discipline required for national responsibility.

At just 40 years old, CSP Giwa represents a new generation of highly educated, technologically aware, and strategically minded police leadership.
This appointment is not just about filling a position. It is about positioning the Nigeria Police Force for modern communication, credibility, and institutional confidence.
