The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has launched a free online membership registration platform across the country ahead of the 2027 general election.

In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said the digital platform forms part of its ongoing nationwide membership registration and revalidation exercise, which was unveiled last month in Abuja.

According to the party, the new portal is designed to align with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 on digital membership registers.

“The new digital registration platform… is designed to enable the party meet the requirements of the new Electoral Act 2026, regarding digital membership register,” the statement said.

The party explained that only members whose details are fully captured and verified on its official digital register will be eligible to participate in its primaries, either as voters or aspirants.

“Accordingly, only individuals whose membership details are fully captured and verified in the Party’s official digital register will be eligible to vote or be voted for in the Party’s primaries,” it added.

While introducing the online option, the ADC said manual registration would continue simultaneously across states to accommodate members who prefer physical enrolment.

The party noted that it has recorded growing interest from Nigerians at home and in the diaspora since the launch of its physical and grassroots membership drive in February.

It said the introduction of the online option is intended to remove barriers to entry, simplify enrolment and make participation more accessible.

“Introduction of the free online option is designed to remove barriers to entry, simplify enrolment, and ensure that every eligible Nigerian who wishes to identify with the ADC can do so seamlessly and securely,” the statement said.

The ADC also disclosed that members who registered on its previous digital platform are required to revalidate their details on the new portal in line with the Electoral Act and guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Support groups and associations were similarly encouraged to complete their registration through the platform.

The party said the exercise is without prejudice to its objections to certain provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 and the current INEC timetable.

On February 18, Bola Tinubu signed the Electoral Act amendment into law, mandating political parties to submit comprehensive digital membership registers to INEC ahead of their primaries.
