The Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), raising the number of APC governors to 30.

Governor Kefas formally entered the ruling party on Saturday during a ceremony in Jalingo, the state capital. The event followed a postponed reception, initially delayed to honor members of the armed forces and citizens who were reportedly killed in terrorist attacks in November 2025.

At the ceremony, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda presented the party flag to Governor Kefas and affirmed his leadership of the party in Taraba State.

Describing the defection as timely and courageous, Yilwatda said the move would better position Taraba to benefit from federal programmes and interventions under President Bola Tinubu.

“The APC is the party at the centre, and in my father’s house there are many mansions. There is room for every Nigerian willing to join the APC. All states and people are equal in our party, and Taraba is as important as any other APC-governed state,” Yilwatda stated.

Ajibola Basiru, APC National Secretary, also welcomed the Taraba governor, expressing excitement over his induction.
