Akwa Ibom youths, under the banner of Akwa Ibom Youths United, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, staged a massive solidarity rally and road walk in Uyo, declaring firm support for the continuity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno beyond 2027.

The rally, which commenced at Ibom Hall along IBB Avenue, progressed through Aka Road, Ibom Plaza and Wellington Bassey Way, before terminating at the Globe Roundabout, attracted thousands of youths drawn from the three Senatorial Districts of the state.

Organisers described the event as a symbolic demonstration of unity, gratitude, and confidence in the leadership and performance of the current administrations at the federal and state levels, as well as the federal legislature.

Speaking on behalf of the youths, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Youth Development and Member representing Oron Federal Constituency, Hon. Martins Esin, praised President Tinubu’s leadership as courageous and transformative. He cited the President’s bold economic reforms, which he said have boosted revenues accruing to states and local government areas across the country.

Hon. Esin maintained that the President’s robust economic policies are yielding positive results and contributing significantly to Nigeria’s ongoing economic turnaround. He noted that the rally represented more than political loyalty, describing it as a public affirmation of the positive impact being felt by Nigerians under the collective leadership of President Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno.

At the rally, a motion was moved and unanimously adopted endorsing President Tinubu, Senate President Akpabio, and Governor Eno for the 2027 elections, reaffirming the faith and confidence of Akwa Ibom youths in their leadership.

In his response, Governor Umo Eno thanked the youths for their overwhelming support and reiterated his administration’s commitment to youth development through various empowerment programmes. He announced that 100 youths per local government area will be sponsored to undergo skills acquisition training at the Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC).

The Governor also recalled his administration’s ongoing efforts at establishing youth-friendly centres across all local government areas of the state and announced an upward review of bursary support to ₦50,000 for students in tertiary institutions.

Governor Eno further assured the youths of plans to develop and adopt a comprehensive Youth Policy for Akwa Ibom State, pledging sustained support for young people in their diverse endeavours.

The rally recorded an impressive turnout, with youths carrying banners and chanting solidarity songs, signalling a strong wave of support for President Tinubu, Senate President Akpabio, and Governor Eno ahead of the next electoral cycle.
