Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command are set to begin enforcement of Tinted Glass Permit, TGP, Regulations In Akwa Ibom on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
This was contained in a Press Release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Timfon John in Uyo on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

The release stated as follows: “The Akwa Ibom State Police Command wishes to inform all motorists and the general public within the state that it shall commence the full enforcement of regulations concerning the use of Tinted Glass Permits (TGP) on 2nd October, 2025. This decisive action is in strict compliance with the Motor Vehicle Prohibition of Tinted Glass Act, 2004 regarding the regularization and valid use of the permit nationwide.
“The public is reminded that the issuance of the Tinted Glass Permit was previously reactivated and is now handled exclusively by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) through its authorized technology platform, the Police Specialized Services Automation Project (POSSAP). A substantial grace period was granted to allow all affected motorists to obtain or regularize their permits.

“Motorists found operating a vehicle with tinted glass but without any form of permit shall be arrested and vehicle impounded to the nearest Police Division or Formation for thorough investigation and possible prosecution in line with extant laws.
“Vehicle users who wish to obtain the permit are advised to carefully follow the following steps:
1. Visit the portal:Log on to www.possap.gov.ng and sign up using your NIN, BVN, or TIN;
2. Create Account: Fill in your correct information in the form provided, then click on Create Account to proceed;
3. Verify Account: Enter the verification code sent to your email address;
4. Login: Input your email address and password, then click on Login to proceed;
5. Select Service: Click on Select Service and choose Tinted Glass Permit;
6. Provide Vehicle Details: Fill in your vehicle details and upload the required supporting documents;
7. Confirm Details: Read through again and confirm all the information you have imputed before the submission of your request;
8. Make Payment: Proceed to make the necessary payment as directed on the portal; and
9. Vehicle Inspection & Biometric Capture: On completion of the above steps, applicant will be scheduled for vehicle inspection and biometric capture at the chosen Intelligence Department of the police force.
“Motorists are strongly advised to take immediate steps to obtain or validate their TGP to avoid sanctions.
“The Commissioner of Police encourages all road users and motorists to conduct themselves in an orderly and cooperative manner throughout the duration of this exercise and also report any form of Extortion and unprofessional conduct by the Police to the following number:
