Akwa Ibom Communities’ Presidents Worldwide, Honours Rep Unyime Idem

The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Unyime Idem, over the weekend, received the Diaspora Honorary Award in recognition of his “exceptional performance at the National Assembly and contribution to the growth of the private sector in Akwa Ibom state.”

The award is coming from the Association of Akwa Ibom Communities’ Presidents Worldwide, ASACOP, a convention of heads of Akwa Ibom communities in different countries of the world and states in Nigeria.

Presenting the award to Rep Idem in Uyo, the International President of ASACOP, Obong Itoro Akpan-Iquot, said the recognition follows his outstanding representation in the National Assembly, adding that the association is very proud to be associated with Rt Hon Idem.

In his response, Rep Idem thanked ASACOP for honouring him, assuring the association that the award will motivate him to do more for the people of Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Akwa Ibom state, in general.

He also commended ASACOP for the scholarship programme it has instituted, and urged the body not to relent, but continue to be a blessing to humanity.

The scholarship initiative will give our people, especially those who have very little or no support, an opportunity to also have access to education.

Rep Idem also charged members of the association to “be united, shun every form of discrimination, hatred and acrimony, so that together, we can develop our state to be a destination of choice.”
