The Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government, SSG, Prince Enobong Uwah, has charged journalists to promote the ideals of the ARISE agenda of Governor Umo Eno’s administration.

Prince Uwah handed down the charge when the State Working Committee, SWC, of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Akwa Ibom State Council, ably led by the Chairman, Comrade Nsibiet John, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Government House, Uyo.



According to the SSG, “we have a Governor who is humane, humble, who listens, and means well for the state. His ARISE agenda is all-inclusive, capturing the needs of every divide in the state.”

“This administration is working hard to meet the needs of the people, and therefore needs your support to realise its blueprint.”

“The Governor is not against criticism, but it has to be constructive so that it doesn’t sound like abuse.”

The SSG commended the executive members of the NUJ on their successful elections into office on August 2, 2025, expressing the hope that the new leadership will do exploits.

“I read in the news that you’ve provided internet at the press centre for members of the NUJ. This gesture is necessary so that journalists can always confirm facts before publishing.”



“Rest assured the government of Akwa Ibom state, under the able leadership of our leader, Governor Umo Eno, will keep partnering and supporting the Union.”

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the NUJ, Akwa Ibom State Council, Comrade Nsibiet John, thanked the Secretary to State Government, for his love and support for the Union and its members.

John noted that the visit was to consolidate on the existing bond between the Union, the SSG, and the state government.

The NUJ Chairman further pledged the Union’s commitment to continuously partner the State government to realise its ARISE agenda, soliciting government support for its programmes and projects, which are aimed at enhancing professionalism and welfare of members.

Present at the visit were members of SWC of the Union including the Vice Chairman, Comrade Margaret Moore, State Secretary, Comrade Nsikak Esenowo, Treasurer, Comrade Udeme Hosea, Financial Secretary, Comrade Kufre Emmanuel, Assistant Secretary, Comrade Uduak Akai, Auditor, Comrade Dianime Uko, Chairman, Sports Writers Association, SWAN, Comrade Emmanuel Akpan and the Chairman, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Comrade Nsikak Okon.

The event also had the immediate past Chairman of the NUJ and currently Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Media, Comrade Amos Etuk, among others, in attendance.
