The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, has commended Governor Umo Eno for what he described as a prepared and meticulous approach to governance, anchored on the Arise Agenda and its 17 focal areas.
Speaking on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, during an appearance on Channels TV, Umanah highlighted the governor’s unprecedented strides in road construction, education, youth empowerment, and security.
According to the Commissioner, the administration has completed over 770 roads across the state, including inherited projects and newly initiated ones , ensuring that all 31 local government areas have benefited from road infrastructure.
On education, Umanah noted that the Governor has built Arise Model Primary Schools in every local government area, describing them as world-class facilities equipped with modern e-libraries, staff quarters, and conducive learning environment. He recalled the Vice President’s recent visit to one of the schools, where he remarked that the facility compared favourably to some universities in Nigeria.
He emphasized that free and compulsory education policy remains in force, ensuring that every Akwa Ibom child has access to quality learning.
In the area of youth development, the Commissioner explained that programmes such as Ibom-LED provide skills training in diverse fields, after which beneficiaries receive start-up capital to launch their businesses. He also cited the N2 billion Traders Grant, N2 billion Farmers Grant, SME support schemes, youth support stipends, and the DASAC training programme, which equips participants with tools and funding upon completion.
He further lauded the administration’s commitment to security, revealing that the Governor created the Ministry of Internal Security and Waterways, procured maritime patrol boats, donated trucks to the police, and established the Ibom Community Watch to support law enforcement agencies with intelligence gathering. These measures, he noted, have helped Akwa Ibom maintain its reputation as the safest state in the country.
On project delivery, Umanah stressed the Governor’s hands-on style, meeting twice monthly with delivery advisers to review progress on all projects from morning until night, ensuring timely and quality completion.
“The governor came to governance prepared,” Umanah said, “and his meticulous execution of the Arise Agenda is evident in every sector of Akwa Ibom’s development.”
