Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria, has declared full support and readiness to back Governor Umo Eno as he plans to defect from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Executive Chairman of Ikot Abasi local government area, Hon. Ime Williamson Essien, who spoke on behalf of his colleaques from Mkpat Enin and Eastern Obolo local governments during a town hall meeting in Ikot Abasi government field, June, 4th, said their decision to back the Governor was inspired by his sterling performance in the areas of infrastructure, human empowerment, projects, political inclusiveness, peaceful Coexistence and political stability, as captured in his ARISE agenda.

Speaking, the Governor said his irreversible plan to make what he described as progressive change, was informed by the need to link the state to the national grid for rapid development.

He said the decision became necessary to avoid a continued status of a minute minority in the national political mix.

Some of those who supported the ‘progressive change’, were the senator, representing Akwa Ibom South in the Senate, Barr. Ekong Sampson, his counterparts in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Uduak Odudoh and the state House Of Assembly, Selina Ukpatu, Special Adviser , Bureau of Political and social Reorientation, Barr. Kufre Udosen, among others.

The event, which climaxed at empowerment of some constituents with cash gifts, had members of the state executive council, .embers and leadership of State boards and parastatals.

Others were the State Chairman of the PDP, Aniekan Akpan, chapters, ward officers and faithfuls of the PDP and their progressive brothers from the APC, led by their state chairman, Stephen Ntukekpo, political stakeholders, women, youth groups.
