The Federal Government has identified transparent market pricing, public-private partnerships, and innovative funding to address infrastructure gaps as key enablers for Auto Compressed Natural Gas growth in the country.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, said this at a Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN)Competency Centre Gas Series Webinar, titled:”Natural Gas Pricing & Investment Opportunities in Nigeria’s Auto CNG Sector”
He expressed government’s commitment to work with stakeholders to ensure supply reliability, fair pricing, and a resilient gas economy that supports industrial growth and sustainability.
He commended MEMAN’s alignment with the Federal Government’s Decade of gas agenda.
Engr. Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive,
Nigerian Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA),emphasized the import the import of natural gas in the country’s economy.
According to him, the nation’s gas sector sector is critical to achieving the $ 1trillion economy targeted by the economy.
He assured that the Authority would not rest on its oars in ensuring that Nigeria meets the target through the gas sector,as well unlock the potentials of the industry through aggressive gas expansion projects
Ahmed,who was represented by Dr. Ayorinde Cardoso and Engr. Adedayo Oyinlola, also reiterated Federal Government resolve to give attention to the nation’s gas sector.
In his welcome address, Chairman of Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN),Mr. Huub Stokman, emphasized the group’s commitment to accelerating CNG adoption through strong stakeholder collaboration, policy, tax waivers, concessionary loans, improved foreign exchange access, and infrastructure development.
He highlighted the importance of public education on CNG’s cost savings, environmental benefits, and safety, reaffirming MEMAN’s role in linking policy with market growth
