Gov Eno Promises Timely Completion Of Road Project, As Akwa Ibom NDDC Rep Lays Father-in-law To Rest

Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has promised the timely completion of the 10.9km Nsai – Use Ikot Amama – Ibiaku Ikot Esifa – Iton Mmong – Nkwot Edem Edet Road and spur with two bridges linking Ibiono Ibom and Ikono Local Government Areas.
The Governor gave the assurance in his remarks at the funeral service of the late Brother Benjamin Peter Akpan, held at Presbyterian Primary School, Ikot Esifa, on Saturday.
The deceased was the father-in-law to Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono, Akwa Ibom State Representative in the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The Governor, represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Hon. Ubuo Effiong Ubuo, said the project was in line with his administration’s commitment to facilitating development in the nooks and crannies of the State.
“Development is spreading fast in Akwa Ibom State. The massive road project that is going on here is a reminder that the Akwa Ibom State Government is with you.
“The contractor is working speedily on site, and I am here to assure you that in a short while, this road which connects Ibiono Ibom with Ikono Local Government Area would be completed and commissioned.
“We are not only working on roads, we are also advancing our various women and youth empowerment programmes.”
He urged Apostle Nkono and members of the deceased family to emulate the virtues of their departing patriarch, saying “as he goes home to be with the Lord today, I urge you and the entire family to continue to live your life according to the values of love and honesty.”
Addressing newsmen after the funeral service, Apostle Nkono hailed the departed as a man of peace and proven integrity, who led an exemplary life.
He prayed God Almighty to rest his soul.
The service, which was conducted by Church of Christ, Ikot Esifa, Ibiono Ibom, was attended by Directors of NDDC, NDDC Governing Board members, NDDC workforce across the Niger Delta States, officials of the Akwa Ibom State Government, bigwigs of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum (ADF), in-laws, the Clergy, and people from all walks of life.
The late Brother Benjamin Peter Akpan was aged 70.
