Lagos has been selected as the host city for the 2025 edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), a decision jointly announced by the African Union Commission (AUC) and the International Committee of AFRIMA.
In a statement released on Wednesday, May 14, organisers said the city will play host to top and rising African music talents, global media, diplomats, creative industry stakeholders, and music lovers from across the continent and beyond.
The announcement was made during a special event at the AUC headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where the AFRIMA 2025 calendar was also unveiled. The six-day music celebration is scheduled to hold in Lagos from November 25 to 30, under the theme, ‘Unstoppable Africa.’
Moroccan music executive Jannet Hadadi, a key figure in African and Middle Eastern music distribution, delivered the official announcement alongside AUC Director for Social Development, Culture and Sport, Angela Martins.
“I warmly congratulate the city of Lagos for being chosen to host AFRIMA 2025. The city truly reflects the spirit of African music, full of rhythm, creativity, and vibrant energy.
“Lagos has the right mix of modern facilities, good hospitality, strong media presence, and security and transport systems that make it ideal for hosting a major global event,” Martins said.
The 2025 edition is expected to draw over 1,600 nominees and their teams, more than 60,000 visitors and delegates, 2,300 production crew members, and over 400 million viewers globally through live broadcasts.
Entry submissions for AFRIMA 2025 will officially open on May 27 and close on August 8, organisers announced during the AFRIMA 2025 Music Conference.
