In a bid to evaluate progress and accelerate delivery on its development blueprint, the Akwa Ibom State Government has concluded a high-level Executive Council retreat held in Lagos from April 7th to 10th.
The intensive four-day session, presided over by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno brought together all members of the State Executive Council to conduct a comprehensive review of the ARISE Agenda.
Shedding light on the significance of the retreat during a live interview with TVC News Friday, April 11, 2025, evening, the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, described the exercise as a serious and productive session aimed at recalibrating government strategies to better serve the people of Akwa Ibom.
“The Governor in his characteristic way of doing things decided to sit through and evaluate every element of the ARISE Agenda,” Umanah stated. “It was a time to assess our performance, identify gaps, and set new milestones for the delivery of projects and programmes.
Umanah hinted that the Umo Eno administration will clock two years in office by May 29, and the was a timely reflection.
The Information boss disclosed that 28 ministerial presentations were made during the retreat, while emergency State Executive Council and Finance and General Purposes Committee (FGPC) meetings were also held to ratify key projects.
He further emphasized that the choice of Lagos was strategic, noting that other states, including Lagos and Bayelsa, have previously held similar sessions outside their State.
“The aim was to create a focused environment for governance, away from the usual distractions, to allow clear thinking and strategic planning.”
According to Umanah, the outcome of the retreat is already being translated into action. “Akwa Ibom people should expect high-level project delivery. Between now and May 29, 47 projects are set to be flagged off, and 20 are already ready for commissioning.”
He reaffirmed that Akwa Ibom is on a steady trajectory of growth, adding that the retreat marks a new phase of intensified development and citizen-centered governance in the state.
