The Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence as the most Media Friendly Governor by On-Air Personalities under the umbrella of the Ibom Broadcasters Forum in recognition of his media-friendly disposition and unwavering support to the media community in the State.
The award was presented on Saturday, September 6, 2025, during the Forum’s Symposium held at Ceedapeg Hotel, Uyo, with broadcasters drawn from various radio stations across the state in attendance.
Presenting the award, the Forum’s President, Mr. Emma Bakassi, lauded Governor Eno for his commitment to improving the welfare of journalists and fostering a safe environment for professional practice.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Governor, the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, expressed gratitude for the recognition and assured that the honour would be dutifully conveyed to the Governor.
He commended the OAPs for hosting the event, describing it as an expression of innovative public relations and proof that excellence thrives in Akwa Ibom.
Rt. Hon. Umanah further assured that Governor Eno’s administration will continue to support the media community to ensure effective, credible, and positive reportage of the State.
Earlier at the Symposium, the Commissioner delivered a lecture titled: “Facts and Accuracy: Combating Misinformation in New Media and the AI Era”, urging broadcasters to uphold responsible journalism while staying attuned to emerging trends in broadcasting.
The event featured lectures, creative presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions.
