Rivers State Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas, has approved the immediate recruitment of 10,000 qualified graduates and non-graduates into the state civil service.
This decision by Ibas reverses the cancellation of the employment initiative by suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who had earlier scrapped the 10,000 jobs approved by his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Before leaving office, former Governor Wike had authorized the mass employment to fill existing vacancies in the state’s workforce.
However, Governor Fubara halted the process shortly after assuming office, stating that a fresh recruitment exercise would be conducted under his administration.
The latest move by Ibas reinstates Wike’s original employment plan.
The recruitment is expected to provide job opportunities for thousands of youths in the state.
No official statement has yet been released regarding the timeline or modalities for the employment process.
