Former President Muhammadu Buhari has relocated to his Kaduna residence after nearly two years in Daura, Katsina State, following his departure from office in May 2023.
The development was disclosed on Thursday, February 27, 2025, via X by Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to Buhari.
Since the end of his tenure, Buhari had chosen a quiet life in his hometown, largely avoiding active political discussions and focusing on personal engagements.
He arrived in Kaduna alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima and several high-profile dignitaries, including Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.
Others in attendance were current and former deputy governors of Katsina State, a former Inspector General of Police, former ministers, and several of his personal aides.
In Kaduna, the former president received a warm welcome from well-wishers, with Mallam Mamman Daura and Musa Halilu (Dujiman Adamawa) among those present to receive him.
The statement partly reads, “Today, former President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to his Kaduna residence after spending two years in Daura, Katsina State, since leaving office in May 2023. After completing his tenure, he opted for a quiet life in his hometown and largely stayed out of active political discussions, focusing on private engagements.”
