The deluge of awards bestowed on Governor Umo Eno, PhD, which started with Thisday Newspaper, naming him their “ Governor of the Year, 2024, with the Leadership Newspaper group following also, by naming him their “Governor of the Year, 2024, New Telegraph newspaper, also continued the trend by equally naming the Governor as their “Governor of the Year, Human Capacity Development”.
This season of accolades for the Governor continued yesterday, February 25, 2025, when The Security Watch Africa Initiative, an influential and highly credible security and safety tracking organization, with tentacles spread all over the world, presented him with the award as : Nigeria’s Most Consistent Security Agencies Supporting Governor, 2024.
At an impressive presentation ceremony which took place at the EXCO Chamber of the Government House, Uyo, shortly after the conclusion of the maiden EXCO meeting of the newly sworn- in Commissioners and Special Advisers, the leader of the organization, Patrick Agbambu, lauded Governor Eno for the support and collaboration he has extended to the security agencies, which led to his winning the award in his category.
“Over the years, we have undertaken the campaign for security consciousness and awareness across the globe.
“In our last conference in Doha, Qatar, it was agreed that there are specific individuals who have played significant roles silently in the area of security which is our main area of concentration.
“Your Excellency, based on that, the editorial board of our publication, www.swafricanews.com, decided to open an online voting platform not just in Nigeria but all over the world to recognize and celebrate those who through their policies and programmes have assisted security agencies in carrying out their tasks.
“Your Excellency, we are here , today, to announce proudly that among those chosen, you emerged the overall best in Nigeria in your category; those who operate from behind the scene in their support for the security agencies to succeed in their respective missions.
“Your Excellency, we as an organization are proud that you have been chosen for this award. At the 19th edition of our security conference taking place later this year, in Casabalanca, Morocco, we will celebrate you as well for all you have done to make Akwa Ibom State, still one of Nigeria’s most peaceful and secure states.
In his respsonse, Governor Eno, thanked the Organization for finding him worthy of the award and went ahead to dedicate the award to the good people of Akwa Ibom State, the security agencies and their commanders operating in the state “for the wholesome collaboration and synergy we have formed and forged.
“Security is the linchpin of development. The very catalyst that drives investments, tourism and the general wellbeing in any given society.”
The Governor assured the team of his readiness to continue to support the security agencies in their onerous tasks of keeping “ our streets safe and secure,” and reemphasized the fact that, Akwa Ibom State, will remain an unwelcome place for criminals and other forms of criminally.
The Governor, later received the General Officer Commanding the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Eric Emekah, on a courtesy call – who also applauded the Governor for the support he has given the Nigerian Army, especially the 2 Brigade Headquarters in Uyo.
