Gov Ododo Approves N72,500 Minimum Wage For Kogi Workers

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has approved a minimum wage of seventy-two thousand five hundred naira for Kogi civil servants, effective immediately.

The Governor also suspended the tax burden on the approved sum for one year.

Ododo made this known on Monday after signing the agreement on then new minimum wage.

“The new minimum wage of seventy-two thousand five hundred naira should take immediate effect to enable it to cope with the current situation in the country,” the governor said.

The Chairman of the Minimum Wage Committee, Mr Elijah Evenemi, stated that the agreement on the minimum wage is not a victory for any political party but for the good of the masses.

He expressed appreciation to the governor for giving the committee a free hand to operate and achieve a common goal.

President Bola Tinubu had, on July 18, 2024, approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers and pledged to review the national minimum wage law every three years.
