President Tinubu appoints new CEO for NSIPA, other key positions

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Badamasi Lawal as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).

This appointment follows the suspension of the former NSIPA boss, Halima Shehu, on January 2 due to allegations of financial malfeasance. Dr. Akindele Egbuwalo, the National N-POWER Program Manager, served as the acting CEO during the investigation period.

Seven months later, President Tinubu has solidified the leadership of the agency by appointing a permanent CEO along with heads for other humanitarian agencies.

The appointments were announced on Tuesday by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale.

“To facilitate the needed relief to Nigerians and ensure the effectiveness of humanitarian and social development programmes, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of seven qualified Nigerians to head strategic agencies and programmes under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development,” the statement read.

The newly appointed leaders include:
– Funmilola Olotu as Programme Manager, National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office
– Aishat Alubankudi as Programme Manager, Grant for Vulnerable Groups
– Princess Aderemi Adebowale as Programme Manager, Home Grown School Feeding
– Abdullahi Alhassan Imam as Programme Manager, National Cash Transfer Office
– Ayuba Gufwan as Executive Secretary, National Commission for People with Disabilities
– Lami Binta Adamu Bello as Director General, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons

“The President expects the new heads of these critical agencies and programmes to discharge the functions of their offices with utmost integrity and diligence so as to ensure that Nigerians, especially vulnerable groups, are the exclusive and direct beneficiaries of his administration’s reconfigured welfare programmes,” said Ngelale.

These appointments are part of President Tinubu’s broader strategy to enhance the efficiency and impact of social and humanitarian programs across the country.
