On Wednesday, July 17, the Senate announced the removal of Senator Ali Ndume (Borno South) as Chief Whip.
Ndume recently faced criticism for his attacks against President Bola Tinubu.
During a plenary session, Senate President Godswill Akpabio declared Ndume’s removal following a voice vote by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senate Caucus. Tahir Mungono (Borno North) was announced as his replacement.
The ruling APC’s national leadership addressed a letter to the Senate Caucus, requesting that Ndume resign from the party and join an opposition party of his choice.
The letter was signed by APC’s national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Secretary, Barrister Ajibola Bashiru.
