As fathers are being celebrated today all over the world for their roles in shaping and instilling the right values in their children and families, Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has sent his message of felicitations to fathers across the State.
In his “Father’s Day” message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno, thanked, “God for being our ever present Father, guiding and directing our affairs; showing us His love, grace and mercies, especially in times of need.
“Let me also thank the father of our nation, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his exemplary role in knitting the nation together and treating every one with love, irrespective of political affiliations. Even though we may be currently going through some economic challenges, the President has shown through some of the tough decisions he has undertaken to right the economic ship, that he means well for the nation and that before long, the shared prosperity will be upon the land.
“We owe him our continuous support, in the manner that loving children would show to their fathers.
“Let me also thank those fathers who had toiled for the state in the past and helped to lay the foundation of development that we today, are working hard to expand. We as the heirs and heiresses of their hardwork and industry celebrate them for their selfless service to our people.
“To those wonderful and resourceful fathers all over the state who have raised solid children, bracing and confronting challenges in order to keep the family unit intact, we salute you.
“To the women who through no fault of theirs today, are playing so wonderfully and admirably, the role of fathers, the single mothers and widows, we commend you.
“Let me end this message by quoting the Bible portion in St. Luke’s Gospel Chapter 15: 20 (King James version) “And he arose and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.”
“Fathers see a far off and even when we offend or veer off the course of life they had charted for us, they are always there to right the wrongs with love, compassion and gentle nudging.
“We celebrate the great fathers of our dear State today and on behalf of the Government and people of our dear State, wish them a “Happy Father’s Day”!
“Let us continue to Arise and Shine!”
