Minister Wike names newly commissioned FCT road after President Tinubu

On Tuesday, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike officially named the newly completed Southern Parkway Road in Abuja as “Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way” in honor of the President.

The ceremony marked the commissioning of the road, with President Bola Tinubu and other dignitaries in attendance.

During the event, President Tinubu praised Minister Wike for his transformative efforts in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), describing his vision as revolutionary and inspiring. Tinubu expressed his administration’s support for Wike’s initiatives, stating:

“I will not say that I am surprised. Barrister Nyesom Wike, Mr. Project, thank you for giving us this home and for your sincere commitment to shared values. Well done; as a team leader, you work so hard, tirelessly.”

He highlighted the significance of the road in easing traffic congestion, enhancing mobility, and promoting economic growth and national unity.

Minister Wike expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu, emphasizing the administration’s support in completing long-standing projects in the FCT. He described the Southern Parkway as a crucial element of the Abuja Master Plan, aimed at providing access and connectivity to the city’s southern development flank.

“The Southern Parkway is one of the principal arteries conceived and planned as a freeway to provide access and connectivity to the southern development flank of the city as provided in the Abuja Master Plan,” Wike stated.

Wike detailed the extensive scope of the project, which includes a 5.4 km road with 12 lanes and four interchanges, along with significant underground infrastructure. He noted that upon assuming office in August 2023, the FCT administration faced numerous uncompleted projects.

To honor President Tinubu’s support and achievements, Wike announced the naming of the road as “Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way.” This newly named road symbolizes the collaborative efforts and shared vision for the development of the Federal Capital Territory.

The event not only marked the completion of a significant infrastructure project but also highlighted the continued efforts to enhance the capital city’s development and connectivity.
