Gov Umo Eno Is Suffocating Opposition With Projects – Umanah

By Mfonobong Ukpong

The Honorary Special Adviser to Governor Umo Eno on Communication, and Media Consultant to the Governor, Hon . Aniekan Umanah has asserted that the Umo Eno led administration had remained focused in it’s development efforts since assumption of office in May, 2023 and won’t be distracted by antics of the opposition.

Featuring, Wednesday on a live Radio program, Update Akwa Ibom, aired on Comfort FM, Mr. Umanah, a former Commissioner for Information and former National Assembly, had lampooned the opposition for criticizing the recently launched ARISE food security initiative of the Governor, noting by that singular outburst by the Executive Director , Projects in the NDDC, Mr. Victor Antai against the good intentions of Governor Umo Eno, it was an indication that the Governor is truly suffocating the opposition with positive projects and programmes.

Umanah who was fielding questions in reaction to a trending video on social media, where Mr . Victor Antai, was seen addressing members of his political party, the APC, and throwing shades on the Governor, and faulting the ongoing distribution of free staple foods to vulnerable persons in the State, described such outburst as either a product of lack of knowledge on the intentions of government or deliberate mischief on the part of the critic.

“Governor Umo Eno is a caring Governor. This is the only interventionist programme that is totally free by any State government. It is clearly a humanitarian initiative by Governor Umo Eno”.

“When i heard the rumour i needed to watch the video to be sure, because I thought as a former Local Commissioner in the State and now NDDC Executive Director, our brother ought to know the good intentions of the governor in launching such a laudable humanitarian programme. I was rather shocked he could say the things he said”.

“The opposition is getting choked and suffocated by the speed at which this government is driving and spreading development across the entire State”.

“How can feeding the people be said to be impoverishment? They are just misinterpreting the good intentions of the government. Everybody knows that beans is a natural source of protein. It is a staple food. Rice, Garri are staple food. Associating it to Prisoners is poverty of knowledge. Tell me who doesn’t eat Beans, Rice or Garri?”.

Mr. Umanah also used the opportunity to throw light on the numerous development Projects spread across the State by the current administration, saying 76 road projects are ongoing, while the the government is targeting 400 housing projects in the first phase of it’s shelter initiative. He further hinted that the Governor has released over N15billion for settlement of gratuities, pensions and other outstanding claims due to retirees in State since he assumed office.

“Governor Umo Eno is a moving train, moving the development of the State at top speed”.

The Media consultant enjoined Akwa Ibom people to ignore the lies peddled by those he described as opposition, and remain resolute in their support towards the Umo Eno administration, even as he hinted that the Governor would begin project commissioning by May this year.

Hon. Umanah equally advised members of the opposition to join hands with the government to move the State forward. He particularly tasked the NDDC Executive of Projects to use his office and attract projects to the State rather than engaging in unnecessary politicization of good intentions of government.
