The member representing Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture, Hon. Pastor Ubong Attah has expressed his admiration for Governor Umo Eno’s dedicated efforts towards agricultural development, particularly through the recently launched Ibom Model Farms project in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.

Speaking to journalists after the farm’s inauguration in Nsit Ubium, Pastor Attah commended Pastor Eno for upholding his campaign promise to prioritize agriculture and its entire value chain in Akwa Ibom State. He emphasized that the farm represents a significant stride in diversifying the state’s economy and ensuring food sufficiency.

As a staunch advocate for agricultural development, Hon. Attah highlighted the farm’s potential to generate employment opportunities, attract tourism, and become a regional business hub. He acknowledged the profitability of agriculture on a global scale and expressed confidence in the professional management of the farm, drawing parallels to the successful model of Ibom Air.

Having witnessed the project’s inception during the flag-off ceremony, Hon. Attah conveyed his excitement and satisfaction with the initiative. He stressed the importance of recognizing agri-business as the new “black gold” and prayed that the farm should be professionally managed.

Hon. Attah also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of key individuals and entities involved in bringing the project to fruition. He expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the Nsit Ubium Local Government Chairman and expressed optimism that any local government providing land would benefit from the Model Farm project.

Furthermore, the lawmaker extended gratitude to the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Offiong Offor, and the Director/CEO of Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), Pastor Imo-Abasi Jacob, for their tireless efforts in interpreting the vision of Pastor Umo Eno.

Spanning across 50 hectares, the Ibom Model Farms will not only ensure food sufficiency but also serve as a catalyst for socio-economic growth in the state. Drawing inspiration from the successful Songai Farms in Porto-Novo, the initiative aims to revolutionize agriculture in Akwa Ibom by adopting a comprehensive and integrated approach, as outlined by the Director of the Songhai Initiative, Fr. Godfrey Nzamujo.

Hon. Attah concluded by reassuring his Constituents that Ibesikpo Asutan would be the next in line for the farm launch while reaffirming his unwavering support for the Ibom Model Farms project Statewide, and expressed optimism that it would pave the way for significant progress and prosperity for the people of Akwa Ibom State.
