Shoprite To Shutdown In Kano From January 2024, Blames ‘Poor Business Climate’

Retail giant RSN trading as Shoprite, has announced the closure of its Ado Bayero Mall, Kano, from January 14, 2024.

Retail Supermarket Nigeria (RSN) attributed the decision to a thorough financial evaluation and the prevailing business climate, has left employees and locals shocked.

RSN expressed remorse, acknowledging the impact on both employees and the community. In a written statement, they stated: “This decision was not made lightly”, highlighting the challenging but necessary step for the long-term growth of the organization.

Despite the disappointment, RSN vows to support its employees during the transition. “Your well-being is our top priority,” urging affected staff to explore opportunities within the company, notably, RSN plans to open new stores in the coming months, providing potential employment avenues.

The statement also conveyed gratitude for the dedication and hard work of employees throughout the years, recognizing their invaluable contributions and promises to provide details regarding severance packages and the transition process.
