… appreciates congregation for support during election, appoints Barr Samuel Inyang, SSA, Christian Youths
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has announced the appointment of Barrister Samuel Inyang, as his Senior Special Assistant on Christian Youths, with a mandate to raise crop of youths that will chart a new course of morality, integrity and sincerity in the political landscape of the State.
Until his appointment, Barrister Inyang has been an Apostle and the National Youth Leader of the Apostolic Church, Nigeria.
The Governor announced the appointment at the Eket Field Headquarters of the Apostolic Church, while addressing Christian faithful who gathered for the grand finale of the Church 2023 Annual Field Convention.
Giving clarity on the function of the Senior Special Assistant on Christian Youths as different from the general youth affairs, the Governor outlined the core mandate of the office to include uniting Christian Youths into a formidable front, with clear direction and penchant for morals, sincerity and integrity in politics.
He disclosed his intentions to appoint other Assistants on Christian Youths from other denominations to work with the Senior Special Assistant and coordinate the Christian youths in the State towards the set goals.
“The Christian youths must make a difference. There is the general youth, but there is the Christian youth. There will be other appointments of Christian Youths, from other denominations and they will work together so that when we talk about Christian Youths, they become formidable; we can have a direction we can talk about morals in politics; we can talk about integrity in politics, we can talk about sincerity in politics,” he said.
Governor Eno described his visit to the Eket Field Temple of the Apostolic Church as homecoming and a redemption of a vow he made during electioneering campaigns, to return to offer thanksgiving to God when elected Governor.
He used the opportunity to thank the church for standing by him through the election processes, and admonished people seeking positions of leadership to be conscious of the fact that, power belongs to God and is transient.
The Governor solicited continuous prayers by the Church and the Christian community, for God’s grace upon his administration to remain focused and maintain the highest standard of morality in governance.
In a welcome message, the Eket Field Superintendent of The Apostolic Church, Pastor U. S. Ukpong, lauded Governor Umo Eno’s integrity as demonstrated in returning to give thanks in fulfilment of the vow he made prior to his governorship election.
The Cleric beseeched him to strive to bring the Church community honour, by making positive and indelible impacts in his tenure.
Delivering a sermon on the theme, “The Power of the Highest,” taken from Luke 1:34-35, the Assistant National Secretary of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Apostle Samuel Isaiah, admonished that the Power of God is supernatural and revealed through the Holy Spirit to those who are in Jesus Christ.
He therefore admonished the congregants, to accept and be filled by the spirit and word of God as an authentication of sonship, adding that, the “Power of the Highest” is given to the people of God on purpose, to keep all contrary powers and situations under control.
