The News Desk

Advertising & Sponsored Content Policy

Before you publish: Check the refund and cancellation wording matches how you actually work, and add any categories of adverts you will not accept. This draft was written to match how the website works, but it is not legal advice; have it checked by your lawyer. Delete this box before publishing.

Advertising pays for our journalism, but it never decides what we report. This page explains how we keep the two apart and the rules for advertising with The News Desk.

Editorial independence

Our journalists decide what we cover and how. Advertisers and sponsors do not see, approve or influence our reporting before publication, and buying an advert does not buy coverage, a softer story, or the removal of one. Advertising is sold and managed separately from the newsroom, by Brelix Resources Ltd.

How paid content is labelled

Paid content is not sent to our newsletter or posted to our social media accounts as if it were news.

What we accept

Every advert and paid submission is checked before it goes live. We do not accept content that is unlawful, misleading or deceptive; that promotes scams, unlicensed financial or investment schemes, or unverified medical cures; that is hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit or violent; that infringes someone else’s rights; or that could be mistaken for our own journalism. Political adverts must clearly show who paid for them. We may ask for proof of claims, licences or identity, and we may refuse or remove any advert at our discretion.
