The United States Consul General to Nigeria, Will Stevens, has commended the Akwa Ibom State Government for its efforts in tackling the scourge of COVID-19, HIV AIDS and climate change issues in the state.
Stevens made the commendation when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Umo Eno, in Uyo, according to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Ekerete Udoh, on Saturday.
While reiterating the call for robust partnership earlier made by the US Secretary of State Tony Blinken, during his visit to Nigeria last week Stevens, stated that the United States is committed to the economic growth and prosperity of Nigeria.
He said, “The government of Akwa Ibom State has done incredible work to combat the scourge of COVID-19 and HIV AIDS, as well as issues around climate change and the extractive industry.
“The United States is committed to the economic growth and prosperity of Nigeria and her subnationals.”
In his remarks, Eno thanked the US envoy for finding time to visit the state, adding that his government was ready to “collaborate further with American investors in the areas of oil and gas, blue economy, agriculture and tourism.”
