The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, has directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to make their official contact numbers readily available to residents to strengthen community policing, improve intelligence gathering and ensure faster responses to security threats.
The directive was issued on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, during the Command’s end-of-month Strategic Officers’ Meeting held at the Police Officers’ Mess, Moore Road, Calabar.Police officer recruitment
CP Ordue charged Area Commanders, DPOs and Heads of Departments to deepen engagement with their respective communities, stressing that accessible police leadership would encourage residents to promptly report crimes, suspicious movements and emerging security concerns.
He explained that the directive aligns with the community-oriented policing initiative of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, which is being implemented across the Nigeria Police Force, down to divisional levels.
According to him, strengthening communication between the Police and members of the public would facilitate the timely flow of actionable intelligence, build public confidence and enable security operatives to intervene promptly when threats arise.
To ensure compliance, the CP directed Area Commanders and DPOs to publicise their official contact numbers through community meetings, police station noticeboards, town unions, market associations, engagements with community leaders and other public gatherings within their respective Areas of Responsibility.
