The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Akwa Ibom Command has charged personnel to make professionalism a personal commitment and uphold integrity in service delivery.

The Sector Commander, Mrs Felicia Kalu, gave the charge in her remarks during the 2026 Customer Service Week celebration in Uyo on Monday.

Kalu said the theme for 2026 celebration, “The Extra Mile,” reminded personnel that excellent customer service went beyond simply doing what was required.

She said the theme required officers and marshals to do a little more, caring a little deeper, and making a deliberate effort to create a positive experience for everyone.

“As we celebrate Customer Service Week, I urge every FRSC officer and staff member to make professionalism a personal commitment.

“Above all, let us uphold integrity.

‘’The extra mile must never mean compromising established rules or procedures, rather it means finding lawful, ethical and professional ways to provide better service,” Kalu said.

She urged the personnel to turn complaints into opportunities for improvement; challenges into opportunities for innovation, and ordinary service into extraordinary and exceptional service.

Kalu urged personnel to make every interaction with the public an opportunity to build confidence in the Corps.

“Let us remember that behind every request is a human being who deserves to be treated with dignity.

“Let us be conscious of our language, appearance, attitude, conduct and response time,” she said.

She warned against unnecessary delays, discourtesy, indifference, rudely behaviour, incivility to the motoring public and any act capable of undermining public confidence in the corps.

Kalu urged customers (motorist, road users, Driver license/number plates seekers etc), to continue to partner with the FRSC, saying, “Road safety is a shared responsibility.”

The sector commander said that the cooperation of road users remained vital to achieving safer roads and reducing road traffic crashes.
