Police Highlight Emerging Security Concerns

The report identified kidnapping as the most prevalent serious crime across the country, noting that ongoing inter-state rescue operations and coordinated forest-combing missions have yielded positive results.

It further observed that many homicide cases stem from land disputes, family conflicts, and bandit-related activities, underscoring the need for stronger community mediation mechanisms and intelligence-led policing strategies.

The recovery of large quantities of ammunition in Imo State and the neutralisation of armed suspects in Benue and Ondo States were cited as evidence of improved operational effectiveness. However, the report warned that the continued proliferation of illegal firearms remains a significant security concern.

The Force also commended the growing collaboration between police operatives, local hunters, and vigilante groups, describing the partnership as a critical factor in recent operational successes.

The Police High Command reaffirmed its commitment to intensified intelligence-sharing, rapid response deployment, and enhanced community engagement as part of efforts to consolidate security gains and tackle emerging threats across the country.
