Management of Comfort 95.1 FM, Uyo, has dismissed allegations circulating on social media regarding the station’s operations and labour practices, insisting that it remains an independent media organisation guided by professionalism and editorial integrity.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 and signed by its Executive Managing Consultant, Mr. Samuel E. Akpan, the station described the reports as misleading and aimed at damaging its reputation. It maintained that it has consistently met its obligations to staff and stakeholders, including the payment of statutory entitlements.

Comfort FM stated that since commencing operations nine years ago, it has upheld the principles of independent journalism, stressing that its editorial decisions are made without external influence or political interference.
The management clarified that although former Senator Effiong Bob serves as Chairman of the station’s Board of Directors, he does not participate in the day-to-day administration or editorial management of the organisation.
According to the statement, the station’s operations are overseen by the Executive Managing Consultant, with support from departmental heads, while its editorial and managerial policies are anchored on professionalism, fairness, justice and accountability.
The station further highlighted its achievements, including the Guinness World Record secured in 2025 by one of its presenters, George Iniabasi Essien, popularly known as “Mighty George,” as well as several industry awards received over the years.
Management also appealed to the public not to associate the station with political interests, insisting that Comfort FM was established to serve the public through objective and responsible broadcasting rather than partisan politics.
The statement added that the station has maintained cordial relationships with both former and serving employees, saying all genuine staff obligations are settled based on available resources. It reaffirmed its commitment to promoting issues affecting Akwa Ibom State through factual, balanced and independent journalism.
