The Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu on April 30, 2026, paid an operational visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he met with Governor Umo Eno ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained police constables in Uyo.
The visit focused on strengthening collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the state government, particularly in advancing policing reforms centered on professionalism, accountability, and intelligence-led operations.
The IGP reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to building a modern, service-oriented institution that prioritizes public trust and efficiency.

Governor Umo Eno welcomed the IGP and commended ongoing reforms within the Police Force, highlighting improvements in discipline, professionalism, and service delivery.
He also reiterated the state government’s continued support for security agencies to ensure the safety of residents.
At the Police Mobile Force Base 26 PMF Uyo, the IGP presided over the passing-out ceremony of 1,068 retrained constables.
Addressing the officers, he emphasized the importance of operational competence, discipline, and strict adherence to rules of engagement, including Force Order 237.
He warned against misuse of firearms and extrajudicial actions, stressing that any officer found culpable would face immediate dismissal and prosecution.
The IGP also commended the Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, for successfully executing the retraining programme, noting the inclusion and performance of female officers as commendable.
The IGP further highlighted recent security successes in the state, including the rescue of kidnapped victims along the Calabar–Oron waterways, attributing the achievements to effective intelligence-led policing and inter-agency cooperation.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to building a professional, accountable, and citizen-focused institution capable of addressing evolving security challenges nationwide.
